Thanks Eric. Yes, I am concerned about accessing via IAMP. Another question if I may; how does web messaging handle deleted messages, whether they're moved to the deleted folder or not? Does one eventually need an "Outlook type client" to purge/expunge the white space?

I have to think you are concerned about accessing via IMAP4. When messages are "deleted" the deleted flag is set on the message. The .mbx file will remain intact until the purge (EXPUNGE) command is sent. This is one of the times that the whole .mbx file gets re-written so there isn't any "white space" left in it. The .srt file is where the Web preferences are kept I believe.
