This may help a few folks. There are two great free utilities on the Symantec.com site under "Resources". One does a check on your whole system and lists the security vulnerabilites and also a link for the specific patches. The second is similar but lists all the upgrades for much of your software.
The myriad of problems for users following the auto updates that MS allows for XP shows how software is created only for a particular version of the OS.
