I posted this last week and did not get a response so I thought I would try it again with more information.
The SMTP process periodically hangs (does not stop) for no apparent reason. Stopping and starting the service seems to make the problem go away for awhile but it comes right back. We are running Imail 5.08 on NT4. The machine is a dual-pentium 450 with .5 gig of Ram and the load on the machine is low CPU about 5-10%. We use SQL 6.5 for user information and authenication. I am now investigating rather it is a database connection issue that is causing the problem. Running a trace on the SQL database I see periodic (every few minutes) a disconnection like the following. I do not know if this is normal or not. -- 01/23/2002 11:38:45.076 Disconnection (ID=187, SPID=49, User=sa(NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM), App=' smtp32', Host='NTSRV_07'(358) ) -- 01/23/2002 11:38:45.700 SQL (ID=166, SPID=42, User=sa(NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM), App='SMTPD32', Host='NTSRV_07'(332) ) Any thoughts that anyone may have?
