This one is *very* good to understand.

"Relay for local users" (the one that got you on ORDB) means "Relay for 
anyone who is willing to use a return address at your domain, no matter who 
they really are".  That lets most spammers send free mail through your 
server, since most don't care about the return address they use.

"Relay for addresses" (the one that got you off ORDB) means "Relay for 
anyone coming from these specific IP addresses that I say are safe, or 
anyone who has a valid local account and password".  In that case, the 
spammer would have to come from a specific IP address that you authorized, 
or have a password.  I haven't heard of a single spammer bypassing this 
(although if you set your IP range too wide, they could), unless they were 
a valid user.
