We are actually following the RFC.  Let me explain why we believe this

In the example you provided below, it shows the "[10.0.0.1]" as an

of acceptable text.  This is comparable to our X1.

220 [10.0.0.1] Clueless host service ready

As the info that you supplied below states, a receiver may substitute
text
in the replies but the meaning and action of the code number (220)
cannot be
altered.

We are not altering the meaning and/or action of the 220 code number.

In any case, I will forward your message on to our developers as a
feature
request for consideration in a future version of the product.  Thank you
