No answer, just clarifying the question. Are you asking that if you set a rule to block attachments that are .exe from being sent, will the rule strip the attachment and send the message, or will the rule simply kill the message all together? Is that what you are wanting to know?
I'd give it a shot and find out. Send yourself a message with an exe attached and see if you get the message w/o the attachment.
