Terry (and all) Tried something different this morning when I came in .....normally when I open outlook I will click on Send/Receive... this morning I did nothing and let the mail come down on its own...Only received one copy of each email.....Still a mystery as to why it started to act like that to begin with...but will use this as a learning tool !!! Thanks to everyone for their input..

In fact it has to know which messages it has already downloaded and which messages it should mark for delete because the date of the message has exceeded the time the client has been instructed to retain the messages on the server. So if the client uses a scheme for instance of keeping track of messages that use a unique message id from the sever and IMAIL's unique message id is incompatible with that method then all sorts of things can happen. But I don't know how the client(s) keep track or how they compare dates and I don't really know how IMAIL handles message numbers and uidl either. I'm not saying that is happening - just giving an example. As far as I know though IMAIL is mol rfc compliant in this regard but I'm surely open to correction and teaching.
