Yes,
the client needs to be configured for SMTP Auth. With Outlook and Outlook
Express you can simply check the box that says "My server requires
authentication". Most other e-mail clients support this, as well, you will
just need to find where to configure SMTP Auth on those
clients.

Hello Bill,
Thank you for the advice. I have tried
setting "No Relay" and allowing SMTP AUTH, however, when I try this all
messages receive the "not local host" error and are not sent. Any idea
why that occurs?
Thanks!
Dominic

Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] SPAM Realy!
Help!
Relay only for addresses or no relay and use SMTP Auth. As you
can see, anything else will make you an open relay.

Hello,
We are running Imail 6.04 on win2k
sever. I have been examining our logs and a see a *huge* volume of
entries such as those listed below. Okay, clearly our Imail server
is being used as a SPAM rely.
SMTP relay is set for "Local Users
Only"
SMTP AUTH and VRFY are disabled
What else can I possibly do to prevent
this!?
Thank you!
Dominic Maraglia
