5 wrong RAID for mailbox storage (and wrong for mailqueue and logging). RAID5 has no place on a mailbox server. :))We're migrating Imail to a new machine and have the ability to change the stripe size for the RAID 5 array that we are storing user mailboxes on.
Use RAID 0 or 1 when read:write is 50:50, for best speed.
RAID5 is fine for databases with r:w of 90:10, or when you don't really care about speed (aren't stressing the disk i/o).
There are lots of list messages about how to distribute disk load across partitions and drives.
