I wrote something on this long time ago. Without bothering to check the archives, let me say that you are barking up the right tree in creating a user to do the filtering. The step you've left out is changing the name of the list Program Alias to something like <listname>-alias, and making your <listname> user forward accepted mail to <listname-alias>. This leaves you with a listname and user pair, as opposed to the standard listname and alias pair.
