I recently upgrade from 6.x to 7.13 AND upgraded from Classic to KWM. A few people have commented that KWM is slower. The box is an Athlon with 512 megs handling mail for 5,000 users. IMGate does the smtp/mx so the box is lightly loaded. Is it 7.13, KWM or just a irrational comment.
