FWIW, there is a tool called DRTCP that you can find here:
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/578 and if you are using PPOE I'd recommend
installing raspppoe from: http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~normanb/

I've used raspppoe a few times with outstanding success for DSL SBC/Bell
South.  Seems there DSLAM'S really 'hook up' nicely with it.  Had full
bandwidth, 1492 down and around 768 up, about 1 1/2 miles away from the C/O.
