We had a discussion concerning the EULA and license pricing of McAfee a
number of months ago and they are also very expensive as they require per
mail box license for this scenario.
No, they do not.

From the best information we have, McAfee requires either one of the following:

[1] One license per server
[2] One license per E-mail account *on the Internet* (probably over 100 million or so)

Most people assume that #1 is correct, given that #2 is absurd. A McAfee sales rep would imply that they license per mailbox, but they don't (the rumor is that McAfee sales reps have to pay to work at McAfee but make commissions in the order of 50%; they are notorious for overselling). Other people feel that 1 license per simultaneous process is a fair answer. Ultimately, it would take a court to make a ruling on their license to decide how to handle it -- I'm sure many lawyers would disagree.

My guess is that McAfee licenses it in this way so that people will buy the software, but that many people will "over buy" needlessly. Most of our customers feel that 1 license per server is the correct number.

But, this would be a more appropriate discussion on the Declude Virus mailing list (people can join by sending an E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "subscribe declude.virus your name" in the body). :)
