The headliners are that local registry is much faster than going across a LAN to SQL box (without some very advanced tuning), but the registry database is harder to access by 3rd party apps than an SQL database.What are the pros and cons of using the Imail internal database versus MSSQL?
My general recommendation, if bitten then SQL bullet, is to build your client/business database and admin/billing apps on SQL, and then periodically export that to the various non-SQL servers.
ie, see SQL server is the "master" database, and the other types of servers like Imail, radius, etc, are "slaves" databases synced to the master. Rather than Imail as your business' master database.
btw, I have no idea how to do this. :))
