Not true. AV cleans the infected attachment (and does not block the e-mail) and re-attaches a text file saying what it cleaned and why. Quite often, does the virus get deleted and let the good e-mail through. At the very least it's good to know if a client is trying to reach us even if he might be sending viruses. Once ina while the attachment will get deleted and the e-mail may be blank. NAV SMTP will also allow you to send and e-mail to the sender, but I haven't used that feature as viruses like KLEZ will say they cam from someone other than the person they actually came from.

I would guess that better than 95% of virus infected e-mails were sent by the virus itself and therefore would not be a legit message in any respect.
