These folks seem to have a very exhaustive system of verifying the sender of an email address. I know that IMail can't do most of this. Should it?
it could, but at this point, add-on products like IMGate, Message Sniffer, and Declude have filled that vaccuum.
Would these checks help reduce spoofed email and spam?
yes
Would it be worthy to develop a list of checks that email servers should perform before accepting mail
yes, all anti-abuse setups do this already.
, and hold that list up as a bar for email server software vendors?
no.
