Well I opend a can of worms! What I was really getting at is if I'm using the administrator on the server and imail encrypts its on passwords in the registry then it should have the ability to allow an administrator to see them.
Can you please name some well known programs that will allow you to do this? We've already pointed out that even with admin privileges, you can't access passwords on any popular OS. There's a reason for that.
I have several hundred domains and alot of those companies keep there own password records but every once in a while they call and ask what a password is.
You've got three options:
[1] Get an addon that will allow you to extract passwords,
[2] Write your own program to do it,
[3] Laugh at the people asking for the passwords. You may actually get a better reputation if you tell those people "We have a policy never to give out passwords, to help prevent unauthorized access from hackers. If you would like, we will re-set your password and fax/mail the new password to you at the number/address in our records."
Annother beef for me is having to confirm the password when typing it the first time. Just let me see what I'm typing. There is no need to hide it if I'm logged on as the administrator.
True, if you are in a location where people can't read over your shoulders. :) It would be nice if they had the option to allow your way, but all new features come at a cost.
