It depends (don't ya hate answers that start like this :-).

Many listservers will try to group email addresses at the same domain
together and send to multiple addresses in one SMTP session. If theres a
mailing list that many of your users have subscribed to and the list's max
addresses is greater than your max addresses then you're going to have
unhappy users.
