There is no rule of thumb that applies in every case.  I will say multi-processors can 
take advantage of higher numbers of threads.  If you get to many threads going your 
server will begin thrashing about trying to service all the threads, so be careful.  
You really need to experiment a bit to see what works best.

Word  to that. I think the "realest" advance in 8 is really the QM (as far
as  its  applicability  to  all  installs,  regardless  of  their anti-spam
situation).
