Hello all,

I apparently missed the line in the 'new features' listing for v8.0 that allows all subscribers of a list to post to that list in spite of a 'posters-only' list being in place.  I have always used the posters list to control access to my lists, since I really don't want all of the students in the students list emailing everyone else.  However, yesterday an email about a wedding was accidentally sent from an alum to our entire alumni list (which only had three posters allowed), and I spent the rest of the day dealing with irate alumni.  I suspect I will spend the biggest part of today dealing with it as well.

When I checked the list security features of v8.0 against v7.15, I found that security had indeed changed.

>From v7.1 manual:  "If Enable Posters List is turned on, only subscribers in the posters list can post"
>From v8.0 manual:  "
If Enable Posters List is selected, only subscribers and users in the posters list can post."

Anyway, I've changed all of my lists to moderated, so this shouldn't happen to me again.  I just wanted to pass this on in case anyone else handles lists the same way I do.

Enjoy the day!!!

Rick
