Note, there are NO message deferrals by IMgate for 15K messages sent to IMail, inicating Imail is always ready to accept incoming mail.
His previous, weaker machine was seeing last week up to 1000 deferrals/day, where Imail was acting like yours now, refusing SMTP connections, or answering and then timing out at 30 sec. The deferrals were most frequent in business hours, almost non-existent after-hours.
Imail is also sending to IMGate, and was timing out there, too.
For Imail sending to IMGate, the average length of IMGate SMTPD server session connect from the domain/IP in the right column:

So you can see that Imail sending to IMGate is very efficient and only a few Imail SMTP processes can hose out a lot of outbound mail, freeing Imail resources for interactive user services.
