Here's some stats for IMGate sending to Imail, "average delay":

Host/Domain Summary: Message Delivery (top 30)
sent cnt bytes defers avg dly max dly host/domain
 -------- ------- ------- ------- ------- -----------
  12681 350830k 0 4.2 s 21.4 m xxx.net
   3009 62935k 0 3.9 s 1.5 m yyy.net

Note, there are NO message deferrals by IMgate for 15K messages sent to IMail, inicating Imail is always ready to accept incoming mail.

His previous, weaker machine was seeing last week up to 1000 deferrals/day, where Imail was acting like yours now, refusing SMTP connections, or answering and then timing out at 30 sec. The deferrals were most frequent in business hours, almost non-existent after-hours.

Imail is also sending to IMGate, and was timing out there, too.

For Imail sending to IMGate, the average length of IMGate SMTPD server session connect from the domain/IP in the right column:

Host/Domain Summary: SMTPD Connections (top 30)
connections time conn. avg./conn. max. time host/domain
 ----------- ---------- ---------- --------- -----------
   14417 5:17:30 1s 21s xxx.net
    3009 2:52:58 3s 32s flowgo.com
    2874 1:09:50 1s 3s opinionsurveys.com
    2067 1:15:26 2s 60s tpcper.com
    1595 4:31:09 10s 86s attbi.com
    1513 4:51:12 12s 243s comcast.net
    1271 11:22:59 32s 57s 207.44.156.121
    1255 0:00:01 0s 1s 207.218.165.205

( note: ALL the other senders below xxx.net are spammers, and are mostly rejected after RCPT TO: )

So you can see that Imail sending to IMGate is very efficient and only a few Imail SMTP processes can hose out a lot of outbound mail, freeing Imail resources for interactive user services.
