It sounds like you are using the NT database.  The password reset would occur because of the setting on the server:  "Lock Account out for _ min".  The settng may be "Lock account out after _ logon attempts".  Are they sure they are typing in the proper password?  Was the Caps Lock on?

Subject: [IMail Forum] Stange authentication problem

Name:  James Presley
Address: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Product: IMail Server 8.0
OS: Windows 2000
Problem:

I am using the Imail Express for evaluation on a windows 2000 server box
with all the current updates including service packs. The issue has
followed us from version 7 even though the express version was installed on
a new dell server. Basically what is happening is about every 3 or 4 days
Imail returns a "Invalid Password" message to any users trying to retrieve
mail. We only have about 9 or 10 people trying to get mail, and it's random
when the problem crops up. Now the weird part, after a certain amount of
time with no intervention (sometimes an hour, sometimes a day) the server
starts to allow people to get mail again with no problem. The imail server
is not behind a firewall. In addition (I think as an unrelated issue) the
server sometimes has difficulty with graphics enabled messages. Thanks for
your help.

James
