Hi Folks,

We are experiencing an issue with the web interface when customers have
MTU's set below the standard 1500 (actually, Imail's tech support saw
the issue too, not sure if their MTU is set low).

Here is the setup that causes the issue:

Windows 2000 pro/server (we've tried on 4 win2k boxes, seemed to work on
XP)
Ethernet/dialup/DSL/etc.
Any switch any network card
Customer has 100 messages per page in web interface
Customer has low MTU (576 for example)
Imail 8.0x

What happens:
Customer selects all of the messages on a screen, clicks delete.
Depending on the customer, they only delete a certain amount (0,22,73,
etc).

What we have found:
If you packet sniff the session, you'll see that the http post is broken
up into different packets. For each message that the clients requests,
there are variables in the post for the message numbers to delete, at
the end of say the first or second packet we see the above referenced
message number, 22, 66, etc. After that packet, there are more packets
with the rest of the messages up to 100.

It's like the web interface is ignoring the rest of the post.

What IPSwitch is going to do:
They say they are going to pass this problem onto the developer and
they'll let me know what they find.
In the past, this hasn't worked out so well.

What I'd like to see happen:
If anyone has the time to set their computer to 576 MTU, set their web
interface to 100 messages and see if this happens to them, that would be
great. We can also post examples of the packet sniffing going on. By
the way, we have sniffed(maybe not the right term) on the mail server
using a Layered Service Provider. This showed us that the packets
really were getting into the TCP/IP stack of the server.
