We too are having problems viewing/downloading email attachments through the 
webmail.  The problem is that it's leavin the mime type headers on the file.  
If you download the same message through a pop3 client, the attachment is 
fine.  If I figure something out or hear of something on how to fix then I'll 
post it.

        We are running 7.07 hotfix3.
