The plot is thickening and my head is starting to hurt. It seems the LDAP searchs are case sensitive.

I have 2 users: "Michelle Dell", account "michelled", and "Michele Miller", account "Michelem"

I set up LDAP in both Netscape 7 and OE6, using the server's IP address and objectclass=*

If I start to type "mich", I get "Michelle Dell"

If I start to type "Mich", I get "Michele Miller"

If I start to type "MICH", I get nothing.

Hi Bud,

I have noticed that somewhere between the transition from Imail 6.06 to 7.1
and 8 that a search with base ObjectClass=Person stopped returning results
from anything other than localhost.

I had to change all our LDAP searches to have a search base of
ObjectClass=*, this was with OE 6 and another LDAP client.

To be honest I didn't spend too long investigating once I had identified
this fix so not sure of the exact circumstances. I haven't tried this with
Netscape 7 but it worked correctly with OE 6.

Tried that, and it still didn't work. This is getting to be very
frustrating. I've got LDAP logging to SYS----.LOG. Somebody on my
network is getting lookups, because I can see entries where results are
returned; wish the log told me the IP address of the requester.

I just tried both NetScape 7.1 and OE6 again, after changing the LDAP
server set up use the IP address, and got nothing. The log entries
confirm "search count: 0". Is the "objectclass=person" parameter case
sensitive? should I maybe be using "objectclass=*"
