Hi:

Our old school is based on your notion of data and application away from
each other also but..

Set 1:- OS & IMail
Set 2:- spool
Set 3:- mailboxes
Disk 4:- Pagefile

So our configuration is based on 4 different distinct sets. This has been
discussed many times in the past.

Our configuration is not the best for speed but it allows us easy expansion:

Set 1: RAID 0+1: One does not expect this to grow in size.. The server is
only email (OS + IMail + Declude + Virus software + Diskeeper)

Set 2: RAID 0+1: Just spool

Set 3: RAID 5: Just Mailboxes: this is discussed before and the best
configuration for speed is naturally a RAID 0+1 but we made them a RAID 5 to
allow us easy expansion if needed.

Disk 4: Single disk- for pagefile.

But my recommendation is separate your mailbox drive from your OS drive.
Also if you can separate your spool from your OS drive as well.

Regards,
Kami

Hello all!

"old-school" ist the only way that makes sense here! We do it like Niels in
the same way on all of our server machines.

When you install on c:, what happens when your file system is full? Too many
users with too much mail in the folders... and so on;-)
