Regarding HIPAA - In most cases, you probably signed some sort of waiver
that gave the doctor permission to make these calls. It's all in the
fine print.

Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] OT: Court Blocks Do Not Call List

calls iniated by computers are illegal in TN (been that way for years).

I still get them (and am on DNC list here, which did cut down some
calls)

HIPAA does not allow blind reminders of DR appts unless person has
signed
waiver. Some Dr's still use computerized systems that do not have any
way to
confirm who they are talking to for all their reminders. Others use
humans
who identify what office is calling before they confirm who they are
asking
for. All these are illegal.

Yet, I still get them.
