And are these e-mails going to the same recipient MX?

The  logs  you posted indicate that the remote server is attempting to
perform  DNS-only "sender address verification"--that is, they want to
make  sure  that  your  domain  can  receive  mail,  but they will not
necessarily  then  attempt to connect via SMTP to see if your username
exists (as will some servers).

The   causes  could  be  intermittent  failure  of  your  DNS  server,
intermittent  connectivity  or  routing  issues on your end or theirs,
misconfiguration of their resolver settings, etc.
