I have noticed a number of problems connecting to US sites from the UK today
maybe this is part of the problem. Have you tried pinging their server or
running tracerte? I have tried to ping bl.spamcop.net and got the results below:
12/01/03 16:02:48 ping bl.spamcop.net Ping failed, no such host
I'm not sure what the original poster was referring to ("RDNS", usually capitalized as "rDNS", refers to reverse DNS entries, but Spamcop's reverse DNS entries or lack thereof wouldn't matter here).
Note that you can't ping the zones used by most spam databases -- for example, the website of the SPAMCOP test is www.spamcop.net (which should be pingable), but bl.spamcop.net probably isn't used for anything by itself.
What you *can* do when trying to ping a spam database is to add "2.0.0.127." to the zone. So in this case, if you try "ping 2.0.0.127.bl.spamcop.net", you should get back an IP of 127.0.0.2 (or a similar IP), which will ping your own computer. If there are DNS problems, a suitable error will appear.
