Any idea why NAV would do an RSET after the HELO 250???
I checked many other conversation logs and it always does an RSET after the
HELO 250.

That's very unusual. That is not normal behavior (although it is technically valid).

< 15:10:45 20 250 66.155.111.204
> 15:10:45 6 RSET
< 15:10:45 27 500 Command unrecognized.

In this case, I would say that the sendmail server is at fault, as it should accept the RSET command.
