Ok, I can't get an answer from AOL on this, so I'll
throw it out here.
I have an IMail server running on a cable
connection with a dynamically assigned IP (cable company does not offer
static). I have the server setup to use the cable company SMTP server as a
gateway in an effort to get around AOL and other ISP blocking of mail from
servers on dynamic circuits. But, this isn't working in the case of AOL or
Compuserve.
The messages I get back when sending to either AOL
or Compuserve users is "550 mailbox not found". If I send an email to
these accounts from a mail client directly through the cable company SMTP server
the mail is delivered without a problem. I
also have no problem sending to these accounts from an IMail server on a static
circuit.
Anyone have any insight as to what kind of mindless
filtering AOL is doing to cause this?
