Thanks Scott, That pretty much validates all of my suspicions.

http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/[EMAIL PROTECTED] shows
that their primary mailserver is responding, but they are unfortunately
using uunet as their backup mailservers, which appear to all be very busy
(only 1 of the 4 uunet backups was reachable when I tried).

Their primary mailserver is broken, however -- telneting to it shows that
it disconnects immediately after receiving the space after "HELO" or
"EHLO". What that means is that they probably are using a proprietary
mailserver that just doesn't work well. It likely accepts *most* E-mail
properly (the disconnect is likely due to the excess packets sent when
using telnet), but it shows that it is definitely broken.

Given that it appears that you can only use their backup mailservers, and
they are down or unreachable most of the time, it would account why a small
percentage of the time mail is able to get through.

In layman's terms: the problem is definitely on their end. All of their
mailservers are either broken or are seriously overloaded.
