I restarted the server first thing and then verified that SMTP AUTH was working with at least the clients I use (Outlook and mutt). A little more digging (Google is also your friend) and I found articles that said Entourage support for SMTP AUTH is broken. More digging found a Microsoft Knowledge Base article that describes how MSN now requires AUTH and there's a Entourage "Hotmail Fix" available. I'll let you know if that fixes the problem.
