Try running a netstat -n to see what's taking that port.

Yeah, I’ve restarted all of the services a couple of times.  I’m a bit lost at this point.  I e-mailed IMail support but haven’t received an answer back yet.

Is this service running?  Have you restarted the services?

No.  Nothing else.

Are you running some other syslogger on the machine that is using the port # 514UDP - Kiwi?

Hi All,

I’m new to the list and have a problem hopefully some of you have seen.

I upgraded to 8.05 and now my syslog isn’t working.  All it says is:

SYSLOGD 8.05, Copyright © 1994-2001, Ipswitch, Inc.

Bind error 10048

The only issue in the KB that looks similar is one about having more than one SMTP instance running (Windows service + IMail service).  That’s not the case here.  I also don’t have anything I know of operating on 514 UDP (syslog) besides IMail syslogd.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Randy Sargent
