I just checked 10,974 verified Spam Emails we collected for use with the Antispamseeder for stats calibration. All spam that we receive makes it to the .mbx file in question, with the exception of the viruses, the malformed emails that have been discussed on this forum with no body either, the few blocked IPs we have (none of those had null senders when entered) and any emails containing urls from our url-domain-bl.txt after 24 hours of the first instance.
In 10,974 spam emails, we had 0 with null senders. While everyone has their own unique "spam profile" (the type of spam they get based on how spammers obtained their address), it's hard to imagine someone with 60% of their spam sent from a NULL sender. I know that a number of MTAs only allow 1 recipient when the NULL sender is used, which could account for why it is rarely seen in spams.
