I feel the same way that the application should not have any way to directly affect the network stack. It should only be the OS, firmware, and drivers. I have no idea why this happens. But all I can do is tell my story. ;-) If you DO have similar problems, it would probably be helpful to let Ipswitch know about it. But you may save yourself some headaches by having a 3com NIC handy to toss in IF this happens for you.
For what it's worth, the 3com cards really aren't that expensive and it's a quick fix. But it is still disturbing that you would HAVE to do it. Believe me...I know how that feels!
Good luck!

This is pretty worrying for us as we've got a 2650 on order specifically for Imail. :|Are you using the Broadcom GB nics in the 2650? Perhaps someone from Ipswitch could shed some light on what causes the problem. As far as my understanding of hardware goes, the only thing responsible for 'knowing' its an Intel/3com/Broadcom NIC is the driver in Win2K3. The TCP/IP stack is abstracted away from this, and Imail abstracted layers further from this and shouldn't have problems with any kind of network card, as long as Windows is talking to it properly. See the thread "[IMail Forum] Server Migration / Version Upgrade". It was a 2600 that I had my troubles with this time around. I know it sounds too weird to believe. I felt the same way when Ipswitch told me to us a 3com NIC. I still can't believe they have so much trouble with the integrated Intel NICs. --Todd. Once we upgraded to 8.x we started tohave theSMTP server crash, CPU at 80% to 100% and the famous 10054errors. Wefix some errors on the registry (dup ip addresses and orphandomains),reinstall imail, change the LAN card to a 3Com 3c996 as pertech support. We then moved Imail to a clone PC so we can format theserver and sowe can do an install from scratch and reinstall Imail andnotice thatthe PC was running fine compare to the Dell (CPU is at 30% thru 80% with peaks at 100%) and the SMTP doesn't crash. Once we formatted the Dell and reinstall the software on the Dell, same result. It didn't matter if we turn off Declude, theSMTP wouldstill crash. Right now Imail is running on the PC.
