The only ways I know of to "automagically" block IP's after so many errors
in such and such a time period is not a function of IMail at this time. I
know you can do it with Black Ice Defender. I also think IMGate has a
feature like this <Len?>..

There are lots of rate-limiting features in IMGate/postfix that make IMGate immune to very serious attacks. I've seen an 800 MHz PC reject 75K msgs/hour to unknown users without any impact on legit traffic. With anvil (MTA as object of hammering), one IMGate this week was rejecting 25 SMTP connects/second for 5 hours with no impact on legit traffic.
