Hey guys,
We upgraded IMail to version 8.10 about 2 weeks ago. We’ve found a problem with the new look Webmail. The primary Internal IP Address of our mail server is 10.254. 1.238. We access webmail with the following URL: http://10.254.1.238:8383. When we access this URL, all we get is a blank page, and the address bar in Internet Explorer says: http://10.254.1.238:8383/login.cgi?
If we change the URL to the name of the server (http://rplemail:8383) then it works fine. It’s only when we try to access Webmail via the IP Address of the server.
The reason we need to be able to access the IP Address is that being a Newspaper Printing Organisation in Australia, we have over 1,000 Apple PowerMac G4’s running Mac OS 9, which isn’t too great at using WINS and DNS. Trying to get it to resolve the name “rplemail” is just more trouble than it’s worth.
When we upgraded to IMail 8.10 our old webmail html pages were still there (the subfolder in IMail was renamed to web.old). What we’ve done is renamed this folder to “web”, so we are using the old Webmail interface (you know, the ugly yellow one!). This Webmail works fine when accessing it via the IP Address. It’s only the new look Webmail that’s playing up. That’s where it’s really weird. It doesn’t seem to be a problem with IMail itself, but with the actual web files for the new look.
Has anyone else come across this problem? I would interest to hear any possibly solutions.
Thanks!
