I have a mail admin from another agency sending my postmaster account
information saying they are "constantly being bombarded with bad email" from
a valid user on my IMail (v8.10 HF2) box.

As I said the user is valid, he has no forwarding information setup but
messages from this users account is flooding the admins postmaster account:
"501 5.6.0 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>... Data format error."

I have not been able to track the problem down yet. Any ideas?

The first step is to have the complaining admin send you one of the problem e-mails *including all headers*. Then, you'll be able to determine if your network the source of the message. Many viruses, and some spam programs, spoof the From: address, so that is not really a reliable indicator of the message's origin.
