I have three of those .vir directories.  All created at the same time that I
got a "could not lock file" in the declude logs again.....

That's a temporary file from Declude Virus.  It is safe to delete any 
\IMail\spool\*.vir\ directory that is more than 2 hours old.  If you are 
seeing a lot of them, you can contact our support@ address for assistance.
