Dave and Eric thanks for all the help with this. I tried many of these same things
over last weekend and hit the same road-blocks. I also believe that the issue is
either in the formatting of the request or with the requirement that the Barracuda
authenticate when IMail does not require it. As I stated previously, I was able to
connect to the LDAP db with an LDAP browser using the same user/pass that I had put
into the Barracuda, however I was able to supply additional baseDN info in the browser
that the Barracuda did not have fields for. I was further frustrated by the lack of
support from Barracuda. It's also interesting to note that they have no forum or
listserv for support either. All their folks will say is that they can get it to
work. ^^

The issue is not authentication (because yes if you set the user/pass in
the ldap tab, yada, yada, it logs in). The problem has to do with the
way they form their queries. I've been testing this today and haven't
figured it out just yet, but the real issue is that it doesn't
(obviously) query with the correct basedn (that imail expects anyway).
That said, I added the 'defaultnamingcontext "o=domain.tld"' to my
slapd.conf and restarted ldap. I don't _really_ know how to then query
to see if that did anything so it may not even be formatted properly for
all I know. (It still doesn't work).
