" by selling what amounted to trial ware"

I agree with this. Ipswitch didn't release Imail Express so that you or I
could "sell" it to another company. What this amounts to is Jeffery trying
to get ImailSB + Maintenance for the price of a maintenance contract alone.
What he wants to do is not what Imail Express was created for. It may
actually be one of Ipswitch's reasons for PULLING Express.

Jeffrey,

In what manner has Ipswitch been unfair by pulling a "free" trial product?

In what manner have you been fair, to either Ipswitch or your clients, by
selling what amounted to trial ware and then using a back door solution to
upgrade to a licensed product?

There's something wrong with your ethics, not Ipswitch's trial ware
policies. Ipswitch is business to make money. They provide an excellent
product, at a very good price point - that's not licensed on a "per user"
basis. For the price they charge, Imail is one of the most feature laden
mail servers currently avaiable.

Grow up and learn the basic rules of business. You have to pay for the
products you sell. Neither Ipswitch nor any other company is in business to
give their services or products away for the benefit of your profit.

of the list) Bruce Barnes

Does anyone know if Ipswitch gave any advance notice of yanking IMail
Express as an offering? I know they gave IMail Express users a free upgrade
to Small Business if they were on maintenance. I'm now in a bit of a battle
with them because I had secured three deals for solutions that revolved
around IMail Express. I had asked that they provide Small Business to these
three customers at the same price as maintenance for IMail Express. Thought
it would only be fair since I can't find where they gave anyone notice of
them pulling Express. Had I known this, I would have pitched the solution
with Small Business included, but Ipswitch thinks I should now crawl back to
the customer's and ask for more money to put them on Small Business. Even
though it isn't, this could easily be construed as 'bait and switch' to a
customer. One has already bailed out on me completely because of this, and
another asked that I use a different product because he doesn't feel
confident that Ipswitch does business fairly. Tomorrow I have to approach
the last one and Ipswitch has been less than responsive to my plight.

The only thing I've gotten from Ipswitch is the question of what I was
trying to accomplish, which is totally irrelevant to the issue.
