We have just converted from Exchange 5.5 to Imail 8.12 and are using
Imail's LDAP server. My users only complaint so far (1 month) is the loss
of the separate Global Address Book of internal users. I gave them a file
to import to their contacts folder, but they do not like expanding their
contacts to include general e-mail accounts of all users. I showed them how
to do the 7 clicks needed to get to the same place one click did with
Exchange, but they do not like 6 extra mouse-clicks (with a key-stroke in
the middle to add a space).
I researched the Knowledge Base, and the Forums archives. I found a
reference in a May posting to using Active Directory to provide a Global
Address Book. We have a Windows 2003 Server that Imail runs on, and a
Windows 2000 server. However we are still using the Nt Domain controller
that the Exchange server was on as our PDC and have not gone to Active
Directory. Does anyone know of any other way to have Outlook have a Global
Address List? It seems overkill to pay Bynari $2,000.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
