We specify this in Symantec Mail Security for SMTP, as we were also failing those tests at one stage when we rebuilt our mail server and forgot those settings. Symantec say in the manual for the product you need to specify the following characters: %!& as illegal characters in an email address. Without them your mail server can be used to relay mail for any user. This setting is in the anti-relay configuration. Are you purely using Imail and that's it? Or do you have an SMTP filtering product as well? I am not sure where you configure these settings in iMail.
