How do you pass these tests? http://www.abuse.net/relay.html I pass with anonymous, but if I enter a local email address it fails.
Most people get confused about this, because they don't make it very clear what the point of the E-mail address is.
In anonymous mode, it doesn't actually try sending an E-mail (like the one at http://www.DNSreport.com ). You can alternatively enter an E-mail address, and it will try to send to that E-mail address. The idea is that if the relayed E-mail gets to the E-mail address, the mailserver is an open relay; if it doesn't, it is not an open relay. The advantage of this is that it will detect mailservers that accept the E-mail but do not deliver it for whatever reason.
However, the big catch is that you *must* enter an IP address that the mailserver should not accept E-mail for. If you enter an E-mail address that your IMail server accepts mail for, then IMail will accept the E-mail (as it is not being relayed). So if you enter a local E-mail address, it just tests that your mailserver is working, not whether or not it is an open relay.
