You've probably got it set as a default, if you go to the domain, then the
Users subfolder, on the right hand side uncheck the Imail System
Administrator... That's a start.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Imail creates new users as system admins

This can't be right.

We have an Imail box (8.05) that creates new users as system
administrators by default, whether created through the webmail interface
by a system admin, or via the administrator. I've kind of known about
this since we inherited the box, but it didn't seem like a big deal,
because to my knowledge, I was the only person with admin access to the
mail server anyway. Simple fix: make sure that "system admin" option is
unticked. As it turns out, this assumption was incorrect; our helpdesk
staff have been using sysadmin webmail access to add users for
customers, and now - having found one user created as a system admin by
accident - I have to wonder just how many rogue system admins there have
been created on the box!! We have well upwards of 10,000 users on the
box, and so this isn't exactly brightening my week.

In terms of correcting this problem - is there an easy way to search for
system admins, in the registry or otherwise?

In terms of an ounce of prevention being worth a ton of cure - how can I
stop Imail from creating new users as system admins?

Suggestions appreciated,

Regards,
Simon Dodd
