Has anyone seen a phenomenon where undeliverable messages are being sent to the sender even though the messages have really been delivered?

What is the exact content of those messages?

Also, I am getting undeliverable messages with the following message:

451 Requested action aborted: virus detection communication failure
Delivery failed 20 attempts

That is what happens with IMail AntiVirus chokes. Until the problem is fixed (stop/restart a service? new AV program?), you'll keep getting that, and E-mail will bounce.
