Server has run great for years and then last week I started having problems.

Could whatever that has changed been a compromise? virus, adware, spyware. When activated, the bot/RATware interferes/collides with smtp32.exe, killing it, then the goes back to sleep, until re-activated, repeat, repeat.


The security analysts have been amazed at the sophistication of recent compromising programs.

A logging firewall that severely restricted the Imail machine's outbound traffic to the barest minimum (eg: from Imail ip/port ranges to any IP/port 53 and 25) might show non-Imail outbound activity.
