Hello Martin,

To register a dll you on a Windows OS you simply need to do "regsvr32
pathtodllishere" from the Run command. We are using Imail 7.07 I believe and
according to the API instructions if I want to communicate with a remote
email server I must register the IMailAPI.dll on my system.

Installing the IMail API
1) Install IMail Server. The IMailAPI.dll COM in-process server module will
be installed and registered during IMail Server installation.

The IMail API is now installed and available for use by programs you install
on the same machine. To access the Imail Server remotely, you need to
register the API dll on the remote machine and configure DCOM on both
machines. There is a C++ example using ATL and DCOM which explains how to
do this.

The information above is the information I am referring to from the API
instructions. I want to be able to write applications that will run from a
rmote server connecting to a Imail Mail Server.

Larry

Imail API

Hi Larry,

How do you do register the IMailAPI.dll?

i recognized, that older versions of IMail (< 8.0) has already the full API
installed.
This means, tons of registry data is already present including the dll.

On never versions, the registry data is not present, but the dll is present.
Ipswitch told
me, that the 'old' API is not supported anymore, they will release a new
one. But they
didn't told me a release date.

Fortunately, the 'old' API is still working with IMail 8.x, but new
functions are not
supported.

The original setup of the IMail API works on all versions of IMail.
