We use the Symantec SMTP Gateway with IMail and Declude.  The SMTP Gateway Antivirus is superb, and provides both redundancy and offloads AV processing form the mail server.  We like it and will continue to use it.  Their Anti-Spam product is still young in its development and marginal at best.   However, young or not, it will never offer the accuracy or flexibility that you will get from Declude.  If you want to fight spam the SMTP Gateway is not an effective solution.     Here are some stats from our Declude anti-spam system with an indication of what you can expect from the SMTP Gateway.  We consider an email spam at Weight100 and Hold it – do not deliver.
